A security officer at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, has been killed by men suspected to be cultists at the University of Nigeria.
The man identified as Chinedu a.k.a Edu, was quite popular on the campus and known for his brutal approach to cultism on the campus. He is known for not tolerating any criminal activity and elements within the institution.
According to information gathered about the deceased, he was quite feared among the students and well respected among the staff of the school.
Chinedu was involved in so many campaigns against cultist action on the campus and he was reported to have been responsible for the rustication and eventual prosecution of cultists arrested on the school campus.
He was attacked and butchered by yet to be identified attackers who left him dead in the pool of his blood.
According to the Facebook user, Nchekwubechukwu Akpaka Basil Jnr who broke the story and at the same time seeking justice for the slain security personnel, the man was respected for making it his priority to secure the lives and properties of the students on campus
The man wrote:
JUSTICE FOR MR CHINEDU(EDU).
This is Mr Chinedu popularly known as Edu,a security personnel back then in school.
He was ruthlessly assassinated last night, and all I can see on social media is “rest in peace”.
Nay, I vehemently refuse to condescend to defeatism by saying “rest in peace” when the perpetrators of this heinous crime haven’t been brought to book!
He died in active service,on the line of duty, securing lives and properties of students…
HE NEEDS JUSTICE NOT “REST IN PEACE
May his soul rest in peace.
In a similar incident that happened last year on the same campus, a final year student of the department of Political Science identified as Mr Joseph Emmanuel, was murdered by suspected cultists while in his apartment at Ugwoke lodge, Hilltop Nsukka.
