School building collapsed in Ondo State killing one student

A building which collapsed within St. Andrew Grammar School, Ondo in Ondo West Local Government Area of Ondo State, has led to the death of a 14-year old girl.

The JSS 3 student, who was identified as Esther Akinrinola, was playing with some of her friends during school hours when the incident happened. The students were playing at the section of one of the school buildings, which has been reported to be defective.

The deceased student was the only who died in the incident which occurred on Friday. No other casualties were recorded

An eyewitness revealed that the girl suffered a head injury after blocks from the failed building landed on her head.

The eyewitness went on to stated that the she gave up the ghost while she was being rushed to the hospital.

Another source within the school revealed that the school authority had banned students from going near the building where the incident occurred.

The incident eas confirmed by the state Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Femi Joseph stated that the investigation has commenced towards unraveling what went wrong.

The Principal of the school, Mr. Sunday Oladunjoye is now in detention helping the police with its findings, the PPRO confirmed.
