Nigerian human rights activist, pro-democracy campaigner, Omoleye Sowore has shared details of how 40 #RevolutionNow were arrested in Abuja.
Sowore is the initiator of the Revolution Now protest.
According to reports, security agents in Abuja arrested over forty men and women participating in the protest.
The protesters carrying placards and banners had set out as early as 8 am to demand good governance from the Buhari-led administration. Some of their placards read,
‘Nigerians are sick and tired of poverty, corruption, injustice and untimely death’; ‘Say no to injustice’, ‘Yes to living wage for unemployed youths’
The security agents which include police and Army, stormed the Unity center Abuja where the protesters converged, dispersed them, and got some of them arrested.
Sharing photos of the arrested protesters, Omoleye Sowore wrote;
“Nigerian security agents subjecting peaceful #RevolutionNow protesters to inhuman and degrading treatment at Unity Fountain in Abuja.”
