50 corps members have been reported to have varying degrees of injuries, just after the roof of a make-shift pavilion came crashing down on some corps members at the Edo State NYSC camp in Okada, Benin.
It was gathered the incident occurred as a result of the heavy downpour witnessed in the state, as it was further gathered that there is currently no adequate medical facilities to tend to the wounds of the affected victims.
On the other hand, a massive protest erupted in Taraba State NYSC camp following the destruction and injuries caused by an overnight downpour that removed the roofs of some hostels. It was gathered that 4 corps members were left seriously injured, while many were drenched badly in the rain overnight, as they had nowhere to turn to.

In 2017, a similar incident occurred in an NYSC camp in Oyo State. Thirteen members of the National Youths Service Corps (NYSC) in Oyo state were injured, while a worship centre was destroyed during the first rain of the year at the permanent site of the NYSC orientation camp.
The Oyo state NYSC Public Relations Officer, Mr Simeon Bankole, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Ibadan that the injured corps members were treated and transferred to Ibadan for more medical check up.
He said that the worship centre of the Nigerian Christian Corpers Fellowship (NCCF) was affected while evening service was on. He disclosed that there was no death from the incidence, adding that their colleagues saw all the affected members after the incident.
“For the rumour mill going about peddling unfounded and unsubstantiated lies, all registered Corps members are hale and hearty.
“The injured members were brought to camp this Wednesday morning and were shown to their colleagues at parade ground. “They were brought to freshen up so that they could be transferred to a better medical facility in Ibadan, They will leave for Ibadan any moment from now,” he said.
