Though the Royal wedding has come and gone, we have however stumbled upon an interesting highlight just after the wedding and it is about Prince Harry’s ex-girlfriend Cressida Bonas.
Cressida Bonas, who dated Prince Harry from 2012 to 2014, was one of two of Prince Harry’s ex-girlfriends who was in attendance at his royal wedding to Meghan Markle last Saturday, and she had a few things to say about the ceremony in a public diary for The Spectator, published on Friday.
Prince Harry and Cressida split amicably, and the 29-year-old actress and dancer didn’t say anything that would jeopardize her friendship with the royal family. Instead, she stuck mostly to safe topics of conversation, namely headwear.
“Friends are starting to get married,” she wrote, “which means the dilemma of British wedding attire. Hats. Why do I find hats so tricky? Tricky to wear, tricky to look at, and extremely tricky for the poor soul sitting in the pew behind.” She then threw in, “Last weekend I attended the royal wedding. The invitation clearly stated that guests must wear hats. Yikes. I opted for a minimal feathered number—and can only hope I got it right.”
Cressida may have been one of many wearing a headpiece at the royal wedding, but she also wasn’t the only ex of Prince Harry’s to make the news following the royal wedding. Chelsy Davy, whom the prince dated between 2004 and 2011, became a meme when her wide-eyed facial expression at the wedding caught the attention of Twitter. It was also reported earlier this week that Chelsy and Harry (who dated on-and-off for 7 years between 2004 and 2011) shared a tearful parting call ahead of the wedding.
Cressida’s royal wedding diary may not come with any scandalous revelations, but it does reveal a fashion anxiety about hats that is, for the most part, nonexistent stateside. And for what it’s worth, we think the minimal feathered number was perfect for the occasion.
