The presidency has denied reports that it offered N100 billion to Miyetti Allah so that the recent spate of Kidnappings in the country can come to an end.
Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, in an interview with Channels TV yesterday, rubbished the reports as absolute falsehood.
“That is an absolute falsehood. In all of those meetings, nothing like money was discussed,” he said when asked if the Federal Government offered the sum to the association.
According to him, the meeting between Miyetti Allah and the Federal Government was to deliberate on how they can caution their erring members.
Garba shehu went on to state that Miyetti Allah is no different from other socio-cultural groups like Afenifere and Ohanaeze.
“The Miyetti Allah group is like Ohanaeze Ndigbo or the Afenifere. It’s just a cultural group” he said
Garba also added that the criminals found in the group exists just the same way criminals can be found in other groups too.
“There are criminals with the Yoruba race and you cannot say because there are Yoruba criminals, then Afenifere is a band of criminals,” he said.
