This is coming few days after it was reported that a pregnant woman in her early thirties was arrested on Tuesday, after she was caught stealing a skirt at a boutique in Maua Town, Meru County.

The woman, who hails from Kaelo in Igembe North Sub-County in Kenya, had hidden the stolen skirt in her jacket before being confronted by the boutique attendant while leaving the store. An argument ensued when the woman denied the theft claims, forcing the boutique attendant to conduct a body search on her. The brand new skirt, valued at Ksh2, 500, was found folded in her jacket pocket.

The store attendant alerted the police, who arrived at the scene and arrested the woman. She is expected to be arraigned in court once investigations into the matter are concluded.

There was also a report of two pregnant women, Mimi Abbas, 21 and Sofia Sulaiman, 25, who were arraigned in a Karu grade I area court in Abuja for stealing four plasma TV sets. Abbas and Sulaiman who reside at Masaka, Nasarawa state, were arraigned on a two-count charge bordering on joint-act and theft, offence they denied committing, the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports. The prosecutor, Edwin Ochayi, told the court that one Favour Eyo of Millipat Lodge, Airport Road in Abuja reported the matter at the Wuye police station in Abuja on April 14, around 11.30am.
