On April 5, some armed robbers attacked five commercial banks in the community, killing at least 17 persons, including police officers.
Following the bank robbery, Senator Bukola alleged that the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Ibrahim Idris, was planning to set him up by altering statements of suspects that had been arrested for cultism.
Parading the suspects in Abuja earlier today, Jimoh Moshood, police spokesman, said the force will probe Saraki’s connection with the suspects.
Ayodele, one of the suspects and leader of the robbery gang that attacked the Offa banks, alleged that they were political thugs working for the senate president. He also claimed that they have been working for him since he was governor of Kwara State.
In other reports, Bukola Saraki splashed a gift of $50,000 (about N18m) on the Super Eagles of Nigeria ahead of their weekend game against England in London, a game which they eventually lost.
The Senate President described the present crop of Super Eagles as the best – organized ever, as he bade them farewell to the 21st FIFA World Cup finals in Russia.
