Rafiu Olohunwa Akanni, a former chairman of National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) has been arrested alongside Adeola Williams a.k.a Ade lawyer and other suspects, following the murder of Ganiyu Ayinla, a former member of the NURTW and personal assistant to Kunle Poly, Chairman NURTW, Idumota branch.
Parading the suspects who killed the Ganiyu Aliyu on 23rd January 2018 but missed his boss, Kunle Poly, who fortunately escaped, Commissioner of police, Imohimi Edgal disclosed that investigations carried out by the IGP intelligence Response team, led by ICP, Abba Kyari and the Technical Intelligence Unit of the Nigerian police, led to the arrest of 39-year-old Mr. Adeola Williams, an indigene of Isasi Village in Ijebu Ode Local Government Area of Ogun State who was said to have been on the most wanted list of the police for over five years.
Adeola, who confessed that he was contracted by Mr. Rafiu Olohunwa Akanni, a former chairman of NURTW to kill Mr. Kunle Poly, was reportedly arrested in his newly rented house in Akure, Ondo State.
He further revealed that they agreed on N1.5 million and he was paid N500,000 upfront, however when he went to collect the balance of N1million, Mr. Akanni refused to pay him stating that he didn’t kill the target.
Mr. Akanni’s refusal to pay up the balance, made him seize a Hyundai Santafee SUV belonging to his contractor, as he insisted that his balance must be paid before he returns the SUV.
The Police report stated that;
“He further confessed that Mr Olorunwa has being calling him to be very careful and hide very well as his members has been arrested.
He also mentioned many other victims he assassinated in the past which includes one Hamburger, a union chairman in Oshodi Lagos; one Baba Jide Dosumu aka Mados in Ebute Meta Lagos, One Salawe in Ajah Lagos, Ganiyu Asaro and 4 others in Badore area of Lagos where he said he spread bullets in their car and killed the 5 occupants.”
