Chadwick Boseman’s friends and family including his co-stars gathered in Malibu to pay their last respect to the actor.
Actor Chadwick Boseman, who was star of Marvel Studios’ film Black Panther passed away at the age of 43 on August 28, and family, fans, and co-stars have been mourning the loss.
Mourners including Michael B Jordan, Lupita Nyong’o, Winston Duke, and other Black Panther stars joined the star’s grieving wife Taylor Simone Ledward at his private memorial which took place a week after his death.
The memorial overlooked the ocean and included music from a hang drum while people reminisced on their time with Chadwick. There was also a table display with the late actor’s photos along with flowers.
Boseman died on Aug. 28 following a four-year battle with colon cancer. He was 43.
“Chadwick was diagnosed with stage III colon cancer in 2016, and battled with it these last four years as it progressed to stage IV,” his family said in a statement announcing his death.
“A true fighter, Chadwick persevered through it all, and brought you many of the films you have come to love so much. From Marshall to Da 5 Bloods, August Wilson’s Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom and several more, all were filmed during and between countless surgeries and chemotherapy,” the statement continued. “It was the honor of his career to bring King T’Challa to life in Black Panther. He died in his home, with his wife and family by his side.”
