The former Nigerian first lady, Patience Jonathan has been ordered by the Federal High Court in Lagos on Monday to permanently forfeit a sum of $8.4 million (about N3billion) and N9.2 billion, belonging to former First Lady, Patience Jonathan
Justice Mojisola Olatoregun granted the application of the EFCC for the forfeiture and ruled that the money was reasonably suspected to be proceeds of crime.
The judge held that Mrs. Jonathan could not prove that the money was legitimately earned, in what is surely a big triumph for the EFCC.
Recall that they have been on the issue for a long time where Patience Jonathan has told the court she earned the money legitimately and not illegally.
No official reaction has been done by the former First lady nor her husband but we are hoping to see what their comments would look like when they release their own statement.
