Officials of the Nigerian Customs Service has Intercepted 25 containers bearing expired rice imported for the Nigerian market.

According to the video we have, the rice 50kg, was packaged in 2016 and expired last year were all laying in 25 20 feet container at the Tincan Island port, Apapa, Lagos.

Recall following the closure of border, Hameed Ali, the Controller General of Customs, made the revelation that Nigerians have been eating expired rice and the Nigerian market is flooded by expired rice or near date expire rice.

β€œOne significant finding about this seizure is that all the rice are expired or about to expire,” Mr Ali, a retired army colonel, told journalists in Lagos.
