The Emperor of Iwo kingdom, Oba Abdulrosheed Adewale, has vowed to arrest Fulani parents who fail to send their wards to school.
The king stated this during his congratulating visit to Osun State Governor, Gboyega Oyeteola, on his election success at the Supreme Court.
According to Telu “the future is in the classroom, not in the bush”, therefore the Fulanis must make use of the classroom built for them.
The Oba who went to the governor alongside over 20 traditional kings said:
“I’ve visited the Fulani community under my watch. We are intimate since time immemorial with an understandable symbiotic relationship. We understand each other to date. I did not only appeal but also threatened to arrest their parents for refusing to give quality education to their children.
“Lack of quality education will unavoidably breed banditry. Strict penalty for kidnappers is a short-term solution, while mandating quality education is a long-term panacea. The government should design a modality for preferential monitoring to ensure Fulani herdsmen are in school.”
