Sharing a photo with D’banj, Olusegun Obasanjo wrote;

My heart and prayers are with Dapo and his family. No parent should ever have to bury a child. As a parent, it’s the worst thing imaginable. May God give you the fortitude to bear the loss, Dbanj.

Daniel Oyebanjo III who turned a year in May died on Sunday after he drowned inside a pool at Dbanj’s residence in ikoyi, Lagos State.

The singer took to his Instagram page with a black image post to confirm the death, writing: “Trying Times. But my God is Always and Forever Faithful.” It was learnt that D’banj was in Los Angeles to attend the 2018 BET Awards when the tragedy occurred.

Davido who also won the best International act at the 2018 BET Awards,  in his acceptance speech sent a condolence message to Nigerian musician, D’banj whose one year old son died last night. As the singer mounted the BET main stage to receive his trophy, he paid homage to Nigerian pop veteran and sent his condolences over the devastating news of the demise of D’Banj’s son.

“I want to send my condolences to my big brother D’Banj… He actually paved the way for us. My condolences”.

D’banj welcomed his son in June 2017, and he confirmed this by sharing a photo of the baby’s hand with the caption: ”The King Has Come”.

In 2016, the singer reportedly held a secret wedding with his girlfriend Didi, at a low key ceremony both in Lagos and Abuja. D’banj in a recent comment had said that his marital status was no body’s business.

“My marriage is my business and it is none of your business. Whether I am married or not, mind your business. If you ever see a wedding ring on my finger, fine, but if you don’t, fine.”

“The truth about it is that it is very important to know what you want as a brand. As a brand, I wanted to focus on the business side and keep my family and private life, private and concentrate on CREAM.”
