Mimiko made it known in his letter of resignation that he resigned from the PDP for some well thought-out personal reasons. The Statement letter read;
“I hereby with utmost humility inform you of my decision to resign my membership of the PDP with effect from today, June 13, 2018 for some well thought-out personal reasons,”
“It was an honour working with the many prominent Nigerians with whom I shared the PDP platform for the entire period I was in there as a member. Accept please the assurance of my very high regards.”
Although Olusegun Mimiko did not state his next political move, his close aides indicated that he would officially be declaring for the Labour Party later today in Ondo, his hometown.
The medical doctor-turned politician came into office in 2009 on the platform of the LP and was re-elected in 2012 but moved the entire structure of the party to the PDP on the exigencies of the 2015 presidential election.
One of his aides who would not want to be named because he was not authorised to speak said Mimiko is expected to return to the LP along with his supporters on Thursday, and begin the process of registering as a member of the party in his ward, before moving to the civic center Ondo, for official declaration. He said;
“The official declaration of Mimiko and his followers will hold at the Ondo Civic Centre in Ondo town on Thursday, and this will signal the rebuilding of the structure of the LP which was collapsed into the PDP in 2014,”
