The Immediate past governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha has been sworn-in as the senator representing Imo West senatorial district.
Okorocha was sworn-in today barely 48 hours after he was refused participation in the inauguration of the 9th senate on Tuesday.
Okorocha was refused accreditation to participate in the inauguration following a case he had with INEC.
INEC had failed to issue him a certificate of return despite a Returning Officer declaring him winner of the Imo West senatorial election.
The Returning Officer claimed he made the announcement under duress. However, the former governor for justice after a Federal High Court in Abuja ordered INEC to issue him the certificate.
He was sworn-in today by the new Senate President Ahmad Lawan and proceeded to join his colleagues.
The inauguration which held on Tuesday saw the emergence of Ahmad Lawan as the new Senate President. Senator Ovie Omo-Agege was elected as his deputy.
In the lower chambers, Femi Gbajabiamila for elected as the new Speaker of the house of Representatives while Idris Waise became his deputy.
