Katsina state governor, Aminu Masari, has revealed that no ransom was paid in other yo secure the release of the 344 abducted Kankara schoolboys.
In an interview with DWTV Hausa on December 17, the State Governor stayed that the government did not pay any ransom for the school boys.
However, he said that release of the Kankara student were based on negotiations and not ransom. He wrote;
“We did not pay ransom to the kidnappers, it was purely negotiation.”
Revealing how the children were released, he said;
One hour ago, Nigerian soldiers and government officials that were involved in the negotiation for the release of the kidnapped schoolboys have told us that the whole school children have been released, 344 of them.
Those involved in the negotiation include my adviser, some top military and police operatives, members of Miyetti Allah; (they) where all involved in the negotiation.”
He also debunked claims made by Boko Haram, after the terrorist group claimed they kidnapped the Kankara school boys.
“They are bandits who kidnapped the schoolboys, not Boko Haram.” He said
