However, Nigerians have responded to the announcement, as they slammed the government for being insensitive. Many Nigerians reacts on Twitter, as they questioned why BVN, National ID and other form of identification were no longer enough for verification of account holder.
When nobody dey protest, they'll keep pushing us to the wall.

Wait, can this government just stop it already..
Self Certification or what am I just seeing here? So BVN, National ID with NIN, Drivers License, Intl' Passport, Voters Card, Sim Registration are not enough data.
And to think 2023 is like 3 years away makes it more sickening.

Nothing reflects daftness in high place than this! So we go to 2-3 banks and fill a form considering millions of Nigerians with Xple bank accounts….One moron is calling this, "regularisation"! So BVN is helpless, what abt online filling n share such among d banks! They're sick!

That tweet and the thinking behind it reeks backwardness at its peak. Do they really expect everyone to go to all their banks (some people have 3-4) to physically fill "self certification" forms. So BVN was just a bloody waste of time then.
