Few moments back, the supreme court of Nigeria nullified the election of Mr David Lyon. The judgement came barely 24 hours to his inauguration.

A five man panel of the apex court presided by Justice Mary Peter-Odili nullified the election of Lyon on the grounds that his deputy, Senator biobarakuma Degi-Eremienyo presented false information to INEC in aid of his qualification for the November 16 governorship election in Bayelsa State.

The apex court ordered INEC to issue fresh certificates to the candidates of the party with the next highest votes and with the required constitutional spread of votes in the results of the election, which are the Peoples Democratic Party’s candidates.

See reactions to the turn of event below;

@atiku: I received the verdict of the Supreme Court, declaring the candidate of the @OfficialPDPNig in the Bayelsa state gubernatorial elections, Senator Douye Diri, as the duly elected Governor of the state, with gladness.

@jacksonpbn: DSP Omo Agege and other APC leaders were already at the airport to fly to Bayelsa for David Lyon’s inauguration. Hotels in Yenogoa all fully booked. In fact, my man Festus Keyamo who is already in Warri preparing to head to Yenogoa, boasted that Dickson would be arrested Monday.

@AdeBanqie: I love how APC stans here are taking this Bayelsa Supreme Court judgment. No one is lampooning the SC or calling Chief Justice, Ibrahim Tanko unprintable names

That is the MAIN difference between the support base of both parties.

Well done guys.

@toluogunlesi: One HOPES that these Supreme Court judgements will send a strong message to political parties, candidates and INEC to STRIVE to do things properly: Transparent/Credible Primaries (Zamfara); Inviolability of Electoral Due Process (Imo); Proper Screening/Due Diligence (Bayelsa).

@yemi_adebowale: All PDP members in the Bayelsa House of Assembly that defected to APC after the election MUST lose their seats. The party must use Bayelsa as an example to show discipline.
