Nigerian afro-fusion singer, Damini Ogulu popularly known as Burna boy disclosed that Nigerians now love him because he is being recognized globally.
During an recent interview with Billboard, Burna Boy who just released his new album said Nigerians now love him because he is recognized around the world.
Burna boy said,
“Nigerians love me a lot more now because they can see that the whole world likes me, too. They think I’m something special, but I’m not. I’m just a human whose skill is making music. Way I see it, everyone plays their own role in the world, and no role is more important than the other.”
Burna boy’s new album titled ‘African Giant’ featuring Damian Marley, son of late reggae star, Bob Marley and a host of other international stars was officially released today.
On becoming one of the richest Nigerian artists, he said,
“You are only as rich as where you come from, and Nigeria has a lot of poverty.”
His modern style delivery of Afrobeat music was pioneered by legendary Nigerian singer, Fela Kuti.
Burna Boy was also featured by Beyonce on one her recently released album, The Lion King: The Gift. The songs on the album were used as soundtrack for the movie. Other African artistes were also featured on the album including Wizkid, Tekno, Yemi Alade, Tiwa Savage, Mr. Eazi, Busiswa, Shatta Wale and more.
