Nigerian Super Eagles to play a friendly match with Atletico Madrid tommorow

Atletico Madrid manager, Diego Simeone, is expected to arrive Nigeria with his squad today, Monday, ahead of Tuesday’s friendly match with the Super Eagles.

Simeone will land at the Abuja International Airport with a 23-man squad.  Felipe Luiz, Torres Belen Juan Francisco, Angel Martin Correa, Victor Perez and Thomas Patey are some of the players expected for the game at the Akwa Ibom Stadium, Uyo.

Atletico Madrid finished the LaLiga season on Sunday, with a 2-2 draw against Eibar.  Simeone’s men finished second in the league behind Barcelona.

 


They are however the current Europa League champions. Few days ago The Super Eagles’ B Head Coach, Salisu Yusuf, has invited 23 players for the eagerly anticipated glamour friendly match with newly –crowned Europa League kings, Atletico Madrid FC of Spain.

The friendly match is billed for the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo on Tuesday,Topping the list of invitees is highly –rated Plateau United striker, Tosin Omoyele, as well as Katsina United defender, Destiny Ashadi.

There are also call-ups for Akwa United FC goalkeeper Olorunleke Ojo, Enyimba FC forward Isiaka Oladuntoye, FC IfeanyiUbah defender Adeleye Olamilekan and Lobi Stars’ duo of Olufemi Kayode and Ebube Duru.

Some foreign-based actors, including Alhassan Ibrahim, former U17 World Cup –winning captain Musa Muhammed and the Nwakali brothers (Chidiebere and Kelechi) were also included.

All invited players are expected to arrive at the Bolton White Apartments Hotel, Abuja on Friday
