A Nigerian student reportedly died in a road accident in Nilai today, according to the Nilai Fire and Rescue Station.
Audu Oyaele David, 34, a student of the President College in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia died on the spot after the Proton Saga car he was driving was involved in a head-on collision with a Toyota Lexus car near the Petronas service station along Jalan Semarak at 8.30 am, said senior fire and rescue officer II Khairollizal Abu Kasim.
It was learnt that the deceased’s car, which was coming from a nightclub in Taman Semarak to Nilai town, had skidded and hit the road divider, before it was thrown to the opposite lane and crashed into another car driven by the woman who sustained light injuries.
“Oyaele, who was driving to the college after meeting a friend in Nilai, was badly injured in the head and right side of the body,” he said when contacted by Bernama.
The rescue officer also confirmed that members of the public sent the driver of the other car, Tan Ley Leng, 39, to the Tuanku Jaafar Hospital as she also suffered injuries in the accident.
Before now, it had also been reported that a Nigerian student and an Egyptian student were killed while another was injured in an accident at Jalan Mahameru, Malaysia.
The trio were travelling by road, when the driver was believed to have lost control of the vehicle at about 3:00 a.m. local time. City Traffic Investigation and Legal staff officer, Deputy Superintendent S. Markandan, said the vehicle had steered to the left and crashed into a divider.
“The driver of the vehicle, Ahmadu Bello Danbatta from Nigeria, and a passenger identified as Islam Deeb from Egypt were pronounced dead at the scene.
“Another passenger identified as Ahlam Shuib sustained injuries on his lips,” he said, adding that all three victims were students at a private college.
