A Nigerian entrepreneur, Anthony Ebitimi Owei, has taken to his Twitter handle to recount how he lost $100, 000 grant due to a Foreign Embassy’s travel advisory.
According to Owei, his company was selected for a $100, 000 grant by a foreign body. Part of the criteria before the grant can be issued is for a team giving it to visit the business that might get the grant.
The foreign team flew into Nigeria but could not visit his Agrobusiness located in Bayelsa because it was one of the states a Foreign Embassy asked its citizens not to visit in Nigeria. Owei said those in Lagos were the ones given the grant.
He shared the story barely 24 hours after the UK government issued travel advisory, warning its citizens not to travel to 21 states in Nigeria.

I almost won a grant of up to $100k in 2018. Made top 30 across Africa. They visited all businesses but couldn't visit Yenagoa & hosted my team in Lagos instead because security. They were not able to physically SEE what we do. They took the other two who were based in Lagos.
