Bad roads is an ongoing menace in Nigeria, with poor maintenance culture and corruption being the largest cause.
In Nigeria, road accident is the third leading cause of death and in 2018 alone 2,598 deaths were recorded from road accidents alone.
Potholes are numerous, leading drivers to swerve around them, sometimes putting themselves and those in other vehicles at risk, some roads are not even useable at all.
A Nigerian clergyman who was fed up by the situation, led members of his church to pray and also stage a peaceful protest over the state of the road in his environ.
Reverend David Okechukwu, couldn’t stand the deplorable state of Ohanku road in Aba, the commercial center of Abia state.
Worried by the deplorable state of the road which he and his members use frequently, the clergyman led his parishioners to protest over the road.
They didn’t stop at that as they also went on to pray for God to intervene and get the road fixed as soon as possible.
Reverend David Okechukwu, even went into the pool of water which had gathered on the road, as he knelt in prayer.
