Nigeria may soon start having illiterate lawmakers – Okorocha (Video)

Former Imo state governor, Rochas Okorocha stated that Nigeria may soon start having illiterates as lawmakers in the National Assembly.

In a video that has quickly gone viral, Rochas Okorocha who now represents Imo West senatorial district in the upper chambers of the National Assembly, said something needs to be done to prevent illiterates from becoming lawmakers in Nigeria.

He said;

nigerians must understand that illiteracy in the North has direct negative impact on other parts of this country. So matter of education concerns all of us. I wish there could be a general bill that says to everybody, “listen, we do not have enough schools and tertiary institutions in Nigeria, lets create as many as possible that can help to remove the level of illeteracy in this country”. My worry is that if we do not take this urgency of now, which this ugly illiteracy conditions binds us from the north. One day, as exit, we might be having senators from the north who would not be able to communicate in English language.
