Few weeks ago, two persons conveying a corpse lost their lives in an accident which occurred at Kwali, Abuja-Lokoja highway. Four other mourners in the vehicle sustained injuries and were evacuated to a hospital by men of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC).

A witness told Daily Trust on Monday that the accident occurred when the Toyota Tundra with registration number ASB 31 AA, conveying the mourners had a burst tyre, skidded off the road, summersaulted and crashed into a ditch.

He said the corpses, coffin and the injured were immediately taken to the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital (UATH) in Gwagwalada. The victims were conveying the corpse of their relation from the UATH to Delta State when the accident happened at the RCC Junction in Kwali.

Yangoji Unit Commander of the FRSC, ACC Joseph Samgbaza, confirmed the accident, which he attributed to speed limit violation and loss of control. He confirmed that the corpses of the two mourners had been deposited at the UATH morgue.
