A grieving mother was given a chance to reunite with he deceased daughter during a virtual reality (VR) technology show.
The mother, Jang Ji-sung took part in South Korean documentary I Met You, which followed the journey of a production team who created the VR, during the show, she re-united with her seven-year-old daughter Nayeon who died from a rare incurable disease in 2016.
A virtual version of Nayeon was created in a recreation of a park that was special to both mother and daughter.
Jang was initially physically depressed as she couldn’t touch or hug her daughter bit towards the end, she was able to “hold” her virtual daughter’s hand, have a birthday party and put her to bed.
At the end of the simulation, Nayeon turned into a butterfly and floated away.
The mother said: “Maybe it’s a real paradise. I met Nayeon, who called me with a smile, for a very short time, but it’s a very happy time.
“I think I’ve had the dream I’ve always wanted.”
