Fast-fashion retailer H&M has faced another rounds of backlash after they were called out for promoting a young black model wearing her natural hair look.
In the last 24 hours, there were debate over the styling of a young black girl featured on H&M website. The problem they had was that the girl’s hair isn’t tidy. They blamed H&M, her mom, or both, for it.
Some of the reactions from people against the picture used includes;
No man H&M couldn’t comb out the likkle baby girl head – @Hoeleeshitt
Yall bogus :hm – @JackieHillPerry
I grew up hating my hair and there was a pressure placed on having to ALWAYS have my hair done or there would be an uproar of how my hair looked nappy , like damn can’t we live ? We can’t have messy hair now or some shit ? Wtf is wrong with y’all #h&m – @Oh_MySamm
Are you telling me H&M could not afford a Black stylist to do this little baby hair🤔 and why was this black beauty singled out? – @BarbaraAugust12
Can’t even blame H&M for that its not they fault a mf sent they kid to the studio like that 😢🤣 – @PeterSlime
They however responded through their verified social media page. They wrote;
We truly believe that all kids should be allowed to be kids. The school aged kids who model for us come to the studio in the afternoon after school and we aim for a natural look which reflects that.

However, a brief perusal of the kid’s section of H&M’s website shows that messy, just-finished-recess hairstyles were given to nearly all of the models.
