Manchester United are facing competition from Spanish giants, Barcelona over the recruitment of Ramon Rodriguez Verdejo, as sporting director.
Popularly known as Monchi, Verdejo, who currently has a deal with AS Roma is tipped to leave Italy anytime soon owing to the departure of Kevin Strootman to Marseille and Alisson to Liverpool without any replacement for them.
With the club yet to secure a better replacement for both players, Roma fans have not hidden their frustration at the development and are already dreaming of a life without Monchi.
However, Barcelona are believed to be monitoring the whole situation and will be willing to cash in on the former goalkeeper to help its transfer dealings.
It would be recalled that Barcelona star, Lionel Messi listed his side and Real Madrid as the only rich clubs who can afford to spend big without feeling it’.
If this falls through in favour of United, it will mean that the Red Devils will be in actively in the transfer window that is expected to open at the end of the year.
United’s transfer dealing in the summer window was not convincing to Mourinho who could not hide his feelings to the United’s owners.
It is however, unclear if Roma will allow Monchi leave the club anytime soon.
