A man caught without wearing a face mask in Abia state was arrested and is to face a mobile court.
The man whose journey was interrupted by authorities in Abia state for not wearing a face mask in public which has been made compulsory in the state.
The use of face mask in public places was made compulsory to help curb the spread of the coronavirus in the state.

Recall that the Abia State government has warned residents against going out of their homes without wearing face masks.
In a statement on April 27, 2020, the Commissioner for Information in the state, John Kalu, explained that using face masks was important to curb the spread of COVID-19 after the state confirmed two cases recently.
He insisted that residents found not wearing face masks in public places would be arrested and prosecuted without delay.
As extra measures to fight COVID-19, the state government also imposed a dusk-to-dawn curfew in addition to the existing lockdown.
According to the Governor of Abia State,
‘In exercise of the powers conferred on me by paragraph 15(2) of the Abia state Infectious Diseases (Emergency Prevention) Regulation 2020 and other extant laws, I, Okezie Victor Ikpeazu (PhD), Governor of Abia State hereby directs:
i. All residents of Abia State and those visiting and or passing through Abia State shall wear authentic face masks in all public places such as markets, petrol stations, shops, shopping malls, event centers, bars, hotels, places of worship, educational institutions, prisons, offices etc.
ii. That all occupiers of premises where members of the public visit for commercial, ceremonial, religious, charity, and or educational purposes shall provide hand sanitizers and or running water with soap to enable visitors to these places sanitize and or wash their hands before entering the premises.’
