Man sentenced to 7-years in prison for over N10m oil fraud in Rivers

A man has been sentenced to seven years imprisonment without an option of fine for oil fraud of over N10 million in Port Harcourt, Rivers stae.

The man identified as Johnson Abraham Ukiwe was sentenced in a federal high court sitting in Port Harcourt, Rivers State to even years imprisonment without option of fine for dealing on petroleum products without license and obtaining N10 million under false pretence.

The court was presided on by Justice Adamu Turaki Mohammed who ordered the convict to restitute his victim, Exploit Energy Ltd, the said sum of N10million in accordance with Section 11 of Advance Fee Fraud and Other Related Offences Act, 2006.

In his ruling, Mohammed added, “This judgment will serve as a warning and deterrent to other fraudsters who specialize in defrauding unsuspecting citizens through dubious business dealings.”

The anti-graft spokesman, Wilson Uwujaren, disclosed this in a statement in Abuja.

He was prosecuted by the Enugu Zonal Office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC on a five court charge.
