A resident of Igando community, Lagos was rescued from the jaws of death by the officials of the Lagos State Fire Service after falling inside the well he was working in.
According to the officials of the Lagos State Fire Service, the victim identified as Billiaminu Abdullahi was rescued from the well at about 2:00 pm after he fell inside the well.
The victim, a local artisan was engaged to dig the well and in the process, slipped and fell inside the well and got trapped.
Speaking on the incident, the Public Affairs Officer of the Fire Service, Bola Ajao, while confirming the rescue operations, stated that Officers of the Fire Service responded to the distress call at about 2:00 pm from the Ikotun Fire Service Station.
Ajao stressed that the agency promptly mobilized to the scene to rescue the victim who was already battling for his life inside the well.
He noted that the men were able to rescue the victim even as it was almost impossible, considering the depth of the well and the trapping of the victim by materials inside the well.
“Our team, led by SF Taiwo got to the scene after the distress call and with the availability of modern equipments and timely deployment of these equipments, were able to save the man from the brink of death in a nine-minute operation”, Ajao said.
The fire service with support from men of the Nigerian Police rescued the man alive while he was taking to the General Hospital, Igando, Lagos Mainland, for medical attention, InsideMainland learnt.
Meanwhile, the Ajao enjoined residents to take safety and security very seriously and should not hesitate in making emergency calls to necessary responders for prompt attention, thereby saving lives and loss of properties when emergencies occur.
