A Nigerian man has showered praises on president Muhammadu Buhari after he made a whooping N1,375,000 from his rice harvest this week.
The farmer identified as Umar Ango posed with the cash he made from his rice farm and shared the photo online. His caption for the picture read:
President Buhari, may God continue to bless your life and Nigeria…… You advise us to go back to farm, for creation of wealth and self reliance, now this is the result. I never hold N1,375,000 as mine, till when I sold my Rice harvest this week. I promise will do more by next year……
God bless Buhari!
God bless Buhari!!
God bless Buhari!!!
God bless Nigeria.
Late last year, in December 2017 at the 25th edition of the Nigeria Media Merit Award (NMMA) President Muhammadu Buhari revealed and encouraged Nigerians to join rice farming as the business has turned thousands of Nigerians into millionaires.
According to him, rice farming produces a lot of cash returns because it is the most widely consumed staple in Nigeria. He added that Nigeria’s daily expenditure on rice for over three decades stood at $5 million a day!
The President had also declared his Administration’s Anchors Borrowers’ Programme a huge success, saying 12.2 million farmers joined the rice and wheat revolution, while the country is moving close to self- sufficiency in major grains.
The Anchors Borrowers Programme was launched by the President on November 17, 2015. It was intended to create a linkage between anchor companies involved in the processing and small holder farmers (SHFs) of the required key agricultural commodities.
According to the president at the event, measures are being put in place to ensure a poverty and anxiety free economy.
Overall, our ambition is that agriculture should rise from 25% to 40% of GDP so that we can banish poverty and overcome our economic anxiety,” President Buhari said.
