The murder of the young man aggravated the youths of the community and made them take the laws into their own hands by setting ablaze the suspect’s family house, Punch Metro reports

The fire, however, spread to other buildings around and efforts of a combined detachment of police operatives from the state police command and the Mbieri division prevented the fire from causing more havoc.

Policemen, villagers and the Special Adviser on security to the State Governor, Olu Chizoba,  as well as the Transition Committee Chairman of the Mbaitoli LGA, Collins Ugorji, were seen on at the scene of the incident when reporters visited the area.

The elder brother of the deceased, Uchechukwu Ogu, stated that Ibeawuchi had on Sunday accused his younger brother of knowing something about his missing laptop.

He said the victim denied the allegation, but the suspect, who is on the run, took him away in company with three other young men who claimed to be policemen.

The elder brother said the next news he heard after three days was that Ifeanyi had been murdered.

He added that after a search, he found his brother’s corpse at Umuguma General Hospital mortuary on Tuesday.

Uchechuku said:

“It never occurred to me that the men he came with were not policemen. It was when he refused to pick my calls that I visited the police station. But I was told that my younger brother was never brought to the police station.

“When we found my younger brother’s corpse at Umuguma General Hospital morgue, we were told that Ibeawuchi brought his corpse .”

The father of the deceased, Nathel Ogu, told our correspondent that justice must be allowed to take its course.
