A man was caught this afternoon, defiling his friend’s daughter around Muslim high school, Sagamu, Ogun State.
The arrest of the man whose name was given as Sikiru, came after a lady was alerted the residents of the area after hearing the 12-year-old victim, Eniola, screaming in pain. Sikiru who has long been handed over to the police, was first mobbed and paraded naked by residents of the area who gathered.
Recall that few months ago, a 65-year-old man, Friday Azala, was remanded in prison custody by an Egor Magistrates’ Court for allegedly having canal knowledge of his friend’s daughter.
Azala was accused of defiling the 12-year-old girl at No. 6, Agho Street, off Textile Mill Road, Benin. According to the prosecutor, Ben Omoruyi, the accused is a friend to the victim’s father, who is bed-ridden and always comes to the house to visit his friend.
Omoruyi told the court that the accused had defiled the girl “several times before he was caught in the act.”
He also said the accused always lured the girl with N20, to have his way. When his plea was taken, Azala, however, pleaded not guilty.
There was also a report of a 25-year-old man, Monday Udeme, being accused of defiling his friend’s 6-year-old daughter in Calabar South Local Government Area of Cross River State.
Vanguard quoted an eyewitness, Ekpeyong Bassey, as saying;
“Problem started when Asuquo, the girl’s father, discovered that his daughter’s pant was damp.“The father scolded the girl for wetting herself, but she told her father that she did not urinate on herself.
“Asuquo then decided to examine her and discovered that the girl’s private part was discharging substance.
“Asuquo started probing her and threatening her. That was when she opened up and told him that it was Uncle Udeme who raped her.“Because of the New Year celebration, Udeme was still outside. The suspect and Asuquo were roommates. So they waited for him to come back.
“On sighting Udeme, some of Asuquo’s friends pounced on him and started beating him. They gave him a beating of his life,” the eyewitness said.
Speaking on the incident, Asuquo expressed shock over what his friend did to his daughter even after sheltering him for close to a year.
