The University has taken to their official social media handle to confirm the death of the student as well as share a condolence message to his friends and family. It reads:

It is with the deepest regret that we report the demise of Orhions Ewansiha Thomas. Pursuing his PhD in Management, Mr Thomas was an inspired young man. All of us at Limkokwing University wish to express our heartfelt wishes of love and support to all affected.

The Nigerian PhD student was allegedly wrongfully arrested by the immigration authorities in Malaysia even as he was carrying his school identity card. According to reports, the authorities refused to let him go until he was taken to the deportation camp.

Unfortunately, he died while the authorities were verifying his identity card in preparation for his release, reports claim.

Just yesterday, a group of concerned Nigerians were said to have gone on a peaceful protest of the death of Mr Thomas at the Nigerian Embassy in Malaysia. These Nigerians claim they were also arrested by the Nigerian Embassy even after they had gotten a protest warrant from the Police.
