Overnight, Eugene Police investigated, identified and located the Madison Middle School student who posted the concerning message, and cited them for disorderly conduct.

Eugene School District 4J updated the public following a school threat investigation with a statement on their Facebook page. Read below:

Last night several alert parents notified us of a nonspecific but potentially threatening post regarding “MMS,” apparently potentially connected to Madison Middle School, spreading on social media. We take all potential safety concerns very seriously, and immediately alerted police.

Overnight, Eugene Police investigated, identified and located the Madison Middle School student who posted the concerning message and cited them for disorderly conduct.

Our Eugene Police School Resource Officers will have an increased presence at Madison today to provide reassurance of safety for families. We appreciate their partnership and support.

School safety is of the utmost importance. Making any threat to the safety of students and staff is no joke—it is a serious matter that is against the law as well as school rules.
We appreciate anyone who reports any issue of concern, even if you’re not sure it is a legitimate threat, so it can be investigated and precautions can be taken for our students’ safety.

Police are investigating a nonspecific but potentially threatening post spreading on social media tonight regarding “MMS,” possibly related to Madison.

We take all potential threats to safety very seriously, and immediately alerted Eugene Police when this post was brought to our attention tonight.
