NBA star, LeBron James has got so much money on him right now as a press release from Klutch Sports which represents the Basketball player, revealed that he signed a 4 year contract with The Lakers, Magic Johnson‘s team for $154 million.
The deal was concluded shortly after Magic engaged in immediate talks with LeBron, the moment he landed in L.A. Saturday. Though it is not clear on who might be joining him at The Lakers, however it has been gathered that Kawhi Leonard from the San Antonio Spurs, might be the new addition to the team.
LeBron James has led two separate teams to the NBA Finals for eight consecutive seasons, winning three championships, two with the Miami Heat and one with the Cleveland Cavaliers. James will now play for a team coached by former Arizona Wildcat Luke Walton.
L.A. has not sniffed the playoffs since 2012-13 and has been well below 500 ever since, but now has arguably the best player ever on its roster and is primed to make some noise in the Western Conference.
The Lakers finished with an overall record of 35-47 last season, finishing third in the Pacific Division and 11th in the Western Conference. In his second year as head coach, Walton improved in total wins from 26 to 35.
Returning in 2018-19, he has a lot of promising young talent on his team, with the likes of Lonzo Ball, Brandon Ingram and Kyle Kuzma, however it’s hard to assume LA is ‘done’ making moves. With adding ‘The King’ to the mix, the Lakers have a possible chance of dethroning the Warriors in the Western Conference.
Walton will now have immense pressure on him and his coaching decisions will be under a microscope. Plus, he has to jell with James, who usually has a ton of influence on the teams he plays for. Then there’s still all the LaVar Ball drama, too.
