Leah Sharibu’s mother, Rebecca Sharibu, has reacted to claim that her daughter has been killed by the Islamic sect.
After a video showing an abducted aid worker claiming Leah Sharibu has been killed surfaced online, her mother Rebecca has expressed hope her daughter will still return home alive.
Speaking with the newsmen, Friday, Leah Sharibu’s mother Rebecca urged Boko Haram insurgents to release her daughter as she is only a little girl who does not deserve what she is going through at the moment.
“No matter how long it takes, my hope is still alive that my daughter will come back alive from Boko Haram. I still look forward to that day and I am confident that she will return,”she said.
“I also want to still appeal to the people that are holding my daughter to please have mercy on her and release her without any condition.
“She does not know anything. What has she done to deserve what she is going through?”
Grace Taku in the video said;
“My name is Grace. I work with Action Against Hunger, an NGO in Borno state. My base is Damasak.”
“We went to work on Thursday, July 18, 2019, and on our way back to Damasak, we were caught by the army of Calipher.”
“We don’t know where we are. At this moment, we don’t know where we are. I am the only Christian among them. I am appealing to the Christian Association of Nigeria to please assist and do something about me.
“I am also appealing to the Action Against Hunger, they should do something to make sure that we are released,” she added.
