A South African Lawyer is now a major topic on social media, after he took to the platform to share a photo of him in a court, also disclosing that he represented his deadbeat father who abandoned him and his mother when he was barely 5 years old with nothing.
According to Kamohelo Mokoena, his dad who had a criminal case and needed a lawyer to represent him over the case in court, only got to know who he was when he walked up and stood for him in the court proceedings.
Torn between emotions, Kamohelo Mokoena who told his followers that he presented his father’s case so well that was discharged and acquitted of the crime he was accused of committing, wrote on Twitter;
“My father left me when I was 5 years old with nothing at all. 20 years later, he appeared as an accused at Palm Ridge court. He approached a young attorney for legal representation and realized it’s his son he left. God works in mysterious ways. i accepted his mandate and represented him. I fought through and through.
He was found not guilty at the end. I was conflicted emotionally but I composed myself and proceeded with the matter. He couldn’t stop thanking me. He gave me a huge hug and said he is proud of me. Mxm.
It came as a shock. Otherwise I don’t know how I would have dealt with it. Mara fede. He was embarrassed and walked away. I still represented him. His pride wouldn’t let him apologize. He didn’t.
Few weeks ago, Mercy Aigbe was in the news after she called out deadbeat fathers. The actress who adored fathers who take responsibility of their kids’ welfare, took a swipe at deadbeat dads and sperm donors who never contribute to the welfare of their children.
