Lagosian scam friends with N60k 'Asoebi' for a wedding that never existed

In Nigeria, it is a regular practice that once a friend is getting married, friends buy a particular uniform material to wear on that particular day.

This clothing is called ‘Asoebi’ and it is usually more pricy than the regular market price. This is believed to be a way for friends to help support the event.

A social media user, @TheLexash, took to microblogging platform, Twitter, to reveal that some people got to the venue of a wedding a friend told them about, only to discover that there was no such event in existence.

They had paid N60,000 for the Asoebi that ought to cost not more than N10,000.

See what @TheLexash wrote below;

“Lagos sha???
Apparently, some people got to the venue of a wedding they had bought Asoebi for, from a “friend” on Facebook. And they found out the wedding wasn’t real and they had all been duped. Paid 60k each for a ~10k lace for a wedding that never existed.
Lmaoooooo sigh!”
