Following it initial notice to go cashless come January 1, 2020, the Lagos State Government has begun cashless policy for toll payments at Lekki/ Ikoyi Link bridge toll- plaza.

Recall the Lekki Concession Company has put out notice to users of the Lekki-Ikoyi Link Bridge, that starting from January 1st, 2020, it will no longer accept cash payment at the toll gate.

Several banners around the bridge state that

“No more cash payment @Lekki-Ikoyi Bridge Toll Plaza, Wednesday 1st January 2020”.

The Lagos State Commissioner for Transportation, Frederic 0ladeinde, who personally monitored the cashless toll payments at the toll plaza on Thursday, January 2nd along with the Managing Director, Lekki Concession Company Limited, (LCC) Yomi Omomuwasan stated that the new cashless policy was aimed at reducing traffic queue length often experienced during cash payments regime to save travel time and ease traffic movement along the corridor.

The Commissioner noted that the new cashless toll payments has brought significant improvement on vehicular movement at the toll plaza compared with the previous situation, added that there was the need to educate the residents on the need to imbibe the new system through compliance because of its advantage on free flow of traffic.
