Despite the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) repealing the estimated billing methodology regulation, since February 20th, 2020, many DISCO’s across the country continue to use the method.

The House of Representatives had even last year passed three bills sponsored by the Speaker, Femi Gbajabiamila, one of which seeks to criminalise estimated billing of electricity consumers by distribution companies.

In a recent video sighted by LailasNews, a group to protesters could be seen gathered at the front of an office of Ikeja Electric, protesting against the billing methodology.

Despite the gates of the office being shut against them, the protesters remained defiant as they declared that they won’t accept the estimated bills again.
