Lagos Judicial Panel approves the reopening of Lekki Toll Gate

The Lagos State Judicial Panel of Enquiry set up to investigate the Lekki shooting has returned control of the Lekki Toll Gate to the Lekki Concession Company (LCC).

According to reports, the Judicial Panel on restitution for victims of SARS related abuses and other matters set up by the Lagos State government to has approved the reopening of the Lekki Tollgate after 4 months of closure.

The panel returned the control of the tollgate to the Lekki Concession Company, on Saturday, February 6 after the Lekki Concession Company had been praying to the panel to take over the plaza for repair and insurance claims since December 2020.

But their pleas were denied by the panel as the toll plaza could not be handed over since a forensic expert has been paid by the Lagos state government to examine the toll gate with respect of the October 20 shooting incident.

However, today, February 6, the LCC has been approved by the Chairman of the panel, Justice Okuwobi to allow the company take over the Lekki toll gate.
