According to Twitter user @FakhuusHashim, she was asked to write an apology through the medical director of the State House Clinic, for ‘exposing what has never been a secret and posting on Twitter’.
The lady further added that the management of the clinic who are known to ‘siphon funds, leaving the clinic unequipped and unpowered’, decided to shut down criticism instead of addressing the issue.
Her tweet on the poor state of the State House Clinic, Abuja before now reads;
It’spast midnight, and we’reatState Houseclinic. They wrote a prescription of injections we have to go buy from the emergency room because they do not have drugs, Because someone from the State House has continuously amassed budgetary allocations without consequences.
Her new tweets on the aftermath of the post reads;
State House Permanent secretary demanded I write an apology through the Medical director of the State house clinic for exposing what’s never been a secret and post on Twitter. How they siphon funds meant for the clinic and leave it unequipped and unpowered.
Should write an apology or retract my damning tweet or my sister gets fired. She did not support me apologising for exposing the terrible state of the clinic, so I didn’t write one, and she got terminated yesterday. That’s how you know we’re mad in this country. You get a budget for a clinic, State house clinic oh, you refuse to fund daily operations of the clinic, someone visited the place and found it in terrible state. As a citizen, they tweet.
Somehow the tweet got to you, instead of addressing the issues head on (not the 1st complaint that went public) you decided to shut all criticism, talking about “ Write an apology letter and retract tweet “. The AUDACITY !!
CIVIL SERVANTS DO WELL TO REMEMBER YOU SERVE THE PEOPLE OF THE NATION, YOU ARE PAID TO SERVE AT THE MERCY OF THE PEOPLE.
Still happy to say that services at the clinic improved this week. They started buying diesel to power the clinic, also stacked the shelves with vital drugs. But for how long ? They had the funds all along but didn’t bother till they picked up a tweet
My sister will be alright. She is looking for vacancies at the ICRC or Doctors Without Borders. As someone with medical experience (Trauma) from conflict-ridden Yemen, I think she’ll fit perfectly. She only wanted to serve Nigeria, maybe now she would consider jetting out.
