The Ogun State Police Command has arrested one Jacob Monday, a labourer in a rice plantation in Alabata village, for reportedly attacking and robbing his supervisor, Monday Dare, when he came to pay the salary of the workers on the 19th December 2017.
Jacob was arrested in Kabba, Kogi State on 2nd January 2018, two weeks after he committed the said offence and fled.
Punch reports that Kamoru Akanbi, who is also a labourer on the plantation, said that after Dare had inspected the stretch of work done on the farm by the suspect and paid him, the suspect suddenly hit him with a club on the head. Not satisfied with passing out of Dare, the suspect reportedly macheted his body with a cutlass until he passed out momentarily.
After the physical assault, the suspect dispossessed Dare of the money meant for the salary of other workers and fled.
Recall that corp member was also assaulted by her boss’ younger brother in Edo State last year.
Busayo Ashephon, who is serving in Uromi, Edo state, was reportedly beaten by her employer’s brother, Christopher because she asked him for the key to the toilet situated at her PPA, Catholic Chess projects.
Christopher refused to give the corp members the key because according to him, the corpers were using the key their own bathroom to open his bathroom and mess it up. Busayo tried to explain why they needed the key and he attacked her. He also allegedly attacked another corp member who intervened.
Prince Adesola Adebiyi, who shared the story online, says that Christopher beat his brother’s staff so much that she lost consciousness and was hospitalized. He further alleged that victim’s local government inspector offered wine and an envelope of money to witnesses to keep them quiet, over the incident that left the corp member in coma.
