The King of Thailand, Maha Vajiralongkorn goes into fourth marriage with his deputy head of his personal security detail.
King Maha Vajiralongkorn, 66, made the surprising announcement to gives his deputy head of his personal security detail the title of queen. This will make his fourth marriage as he has been married and divorced three times before with seven children.
“King Vajiralongkorn has decided to promote General Suthida Vajiralongkorn Na Ayudhya, his royal consort, to become Queen Suthida and she will hold royal title and status as part of the royal family,” royal statement read.
This announcement was made before his coronation ceremonies when his position is consecrated which would begin on Saturday.
The King of Thailand who became the constitutional monarch after the death of his father in 2016 has been a long-term partner with Suthida Tidjai the new queen. She has made a couple of public appearances with his for many years but their relationship has never before been officially acknowledged.
The wedding ceremony had in attendance other members of the royal family and palace advisers in attendance as seen in the video footage aired on Thai TV channels.The king is seen pouring sacred water on the head of Queen Suthida. The couple then sign a marriage registry.
King Maha Vajiralongkorn appointed Suthida Tidjai, a former flight attendant for Thai Airways, as the deputy commander of his bodyguard unit in 2014, made her a ull general in the army in December 2016.
