Former health minister, Professor Isaac Adewole’s son, Adedayo Adewole, regains freedom from his kidnappers.
Adedayo Adewole regains freedom from kidnappers after being abducted on Tuesday, June 18 from his farm at Iroko community in Akinyele local government area of Oyo state. This incident was said to have happened around 6 pm when some unknown gunmen stormed his farm and abducted him.
The military, police, other security agents and local hunters were on the trail of the kidnappers when the younger Adewole was abducted. Although there were some staff with Dayo, the abductors went for him as a prime target. He was later taken away to an unknown destination
The abduction of his son compelled the Osun-born former minister to cut short his trip abroad.
A top ocial of the Federal Ministry of Health said: ”We are in sad mood over the abduction. Dayo was a graduate of agriculture and he opted for farming. ”He has been managing his farm peacefully in Iroko until he was abducted by some gunmen on Tuesday.”
According to Nigerian Tribune, a competent source said that the farmer is already home with his relatives barely 24 hours after the kidnap. Prof. Isaac Adewole also confirmed that he was released on Wednesday evening.
The aide said “He regained freedom just this evening and he is with his family in Ibadan. Details are still sketchy but we will issue a statement soon.”
Punch also reported that a spokesman for the police in the state, Olugbenga Fadeyi, confirmed the arrest of three persons in connection with the abduction of the ex-minister’s son.
