Kevin Butz Winter Garden Demetrius Starling 429 accident: Obituary

Kevin Butz Winter Garden and Demetrius Starling are dead after the 429 accident that happened May 23, 2019 at about 10 a.m. in the northbound lanes of State Road 429 near Winter Garden, mile marker 19.

Kevin Butz and Demetrius Starling were killed in the wrong-way crash

The 39-year-old Winter Garden man and 30-year-old Winter Park man respectively were killed Thursday morning in a crash involving four vehicles on State Road 429 in Winter Garden.

Troopers said the crash was reported shortly after 10 a.m. in the northbound lanes of State Road 429 near Winter Garden Vineland Road and Stoneybrook West Parkway.

Kevin Butz Winter Garden Demetrius Starling 429 accident:

39-year-old Kevin Butz of Winter Garden was driving his white Range Rover heading southbound on State Road 429 when it traveled through the grassy median and into the northbound lanes of the highway, and crashed head-on into an Isuzu truck driving north by 30 year old Demetrius Starling of Winter Park.

The front of the Range Rover struck the northbound Isuzu truck, which rolled onto its side. The truck rolled over.

Demetrius Starling was taken to a hospital with critical injuries where he was later pronounced dead.

39-year-old Kevin Butz, the driver of the Range Rover, died at the scene.

Florida Highway Patrol spokeswoman Kim Montes said in a press release that two other vehicles were involved in the crash: a Toyota Camry and Chevy Cruze.

The drivers of those vehicles were not injured.

The crash, which remains under investigation, closed all northbound lanes of the highway.
