It’s a shame same sex marriage is illegal in Nigeria - Kiki Mordi lailasnews

Kiki Mordi, the BBC investigative journalist that uncovered the sexual harassment in universities has stated that it’s a shame same sex marriage is illegal in Nigeria.

Taking to her Twitter page, the journalist wrote that it’s almost 2020 and same sex marriage is still illegal in Nigeria, putting the country on the wrong side of history.

She added that people of the same sex are suppose to be free to love themselves and build a family for themselves. She wrote;

It’s almost 2020 & same sex marriage is still illegal in Nigeria.

Like two people (of the same sex) can love themselves and want to build a family for themselves just like you & I but can’t because it’s illegal for them.

A damn shame! We’re already on the wrong side of history.

Kiki Mordi has been vocal since the release of her undercover investigation into sexual harassment of female students by male lecturers at the University of Lagos, she revealed back in October that she had received subtle threats since the release.

According to Mordi, the project was inspired by her personal story, she is not bothered by those threats because the BBC takes the security of employees very seriously. She said;

“I have received subtle threats since this work was completed but I am not bothered because the BBC takes the security of employees seriously.”
